William Gleavey was born in Providence in 1950 and has spent
most of his life in Rhode Island. His father introduced him to
photography when he was five and it has been a life long
passion.  A life of athletics, various occupations and travel have
given him a slightly unconventional eye. After raising his family,
Bill decided to indulge in his passion. Bill has decided to utilize
what he calls the Miles Davis theory of art. Be minimalist, let the
picture tell only part of the story and do it right the first time so
you don't have to do it again. Bill deals almost exclusively in film
and each print is unique, one of a kind and only done once. His
photos have appeared in several juried events and pair of
galleries. Bill currently resides in Pawtuxet village.

Because he does not do digital photography, each print is
exactly as the camera saw it. Nothing is fixed, enhanced by the
computer or altered. Everything Bill does is a mixture of the right
the right light, the right film, and an occasional filter and being in
the right place at the right time. Nothing is printed more than
once, on paper that best suits each photo.
