ARTIST STATEMENT
Photography, like all other art, communicates. If it is successful, it evokes a response in the viewer. My artistic efforts
are always “on the line,“ as Art is subjective, both to me, the artist, and to you, the viewer. My objective is constant,
however: to help the viewer look closer, see differently, and more fully appreciate God’s gifts of nature, life, and man’s
creativity. I share with the viewer the world as I see it.
I critically visualize each photographic subject, first looking at it as a “whole,” examining its context, lighting, and
design. Then, I look at the subject’s subparts or details, often finding images within images. Whenever relevant, I
appraise the subject for color, pattern, texture, and contrast before choosing a final composition.
Finally, I select the appropriate final rendition for each image: color, black and white, or a relatively monochromatic
“feel”.
